About Me

I am an artist, printmaker and illustrator, originally from Manchester, now living in the rural border town of Presteigne.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved drawing. As a child, I would sit and draw for hours and hours on end - and today very little has changed! I studied Illustration with Animation at the Manchester School of Art and since then not a day has gone by when I've not had my pen or brush in my hand.

My passion has always been illustration. I illustrate using a range of different media, including pen and ink, pencils, gouache paints and even digital media and sometimes to like to mix these together. I also like to use different materials in my work - including book pages and grass - and enjoy the challenge of using a limited colour palette, as this forces you to think more creatively about the use of colour and the use of white space.

I like the freedom of using inks and paints, but I also enjoy the precision of printmaking and I regularly experiment with a range of printing techniques, including linocuts and risographs.

I like to produce quirky, playful work that makes people smile. I love adding humour into my work, even if this is not immediately obvious to the viewer. I try to capture the magic in the mundane and keep a sketchbook with me at all times to scribble down anything fun and interesting I see.

I draw inspiration from pretty much everywhere, from buildings to nature and from comic books to mid-century design. I find that inspiration can appear in the strangest and most unexpected of places, from a simple drink in a cafe to a visit to the zoo.
